Choose your own adventure

There’s a type of book that I would call “choose your own adventure” in which you make a choice about which page to jump to next; they’re fun! And, the format translates well into a computer game.

There are four that I’ve played that have stood out from the many on offer. Highly recommended!

🔗 Choice of Robots
I just love the range of this story: from casually working on a robot as a PhD student to, in various ways, the end of times. It’s fun, interesting, surprising, and very replayable.

🔗 Choice of Magics
From the same author, Kevin Gold, a similarly epic adventure in the fantasy realm. Instead of building a robot, this time you’re building yourself into a magical powerhouse; do your best to be ready for the end of times, and what comes after.

🔗 Choice by Gaslight
Inspired by the Sherlock Holmes stories, you play the “Watson” character in a steampunk world with a dash of magic. That might sound too much but it works surprisingly well.

🔗 MetaHuman Inc.
Lead a corporation that improves humans via technology and sorcery, and maybe save the world along the way. So much of the fun in RPGs is improving your character; playing the CEO of a company that specializes in exactly that is a natural fit.
