"It is practically impossible to teach good programming style to students that have had prior exposure to BASIC; as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration." -- Professor Edsger Dijkstra
QBASIC Tutorials
I honestly have almost no memory whatsoever of writing these. But write them I did, probably about ten years ago now. And if you've never programmed, want to give it a go and have a working copy of QBASIC, they might be worth a look.
It's worth bearing in mind that BASIC more or less forces you to adopt what would be considered very bad programming style in any other language. So don't spend too long on BASIC before you look at other languages!
Introduction -- hello world and variables
Game -- light cycles, obviously
Arrays -- storing data
Bits 'n' Bobs -- useful commands
Over to You -- some suggestions for projects
Well, that's all I wrote. You can download them all in a single zip file if you so desire. You lucky, lucky person!
