"The imaginary friends I had as a kid dropped me because their friends thought I didn't exist." -- Aaron Machado
Perl is a wonderful language for writing quick scripts. It's good for data processing, and fun to play with. It can even do object orientation, although for the sake of sanity it's probably best not to go there. (I've been doing OO perl at work for a total of many months now, and it hasn't affected me in the slightest!)
There is something profoundly scary about other people's perl code, and something decidedly satisfying about your own. As a result it's very satisfying to force your own code on other people, so I'll share a few ... ahem ... perls of wisdom in these pages.
